Face-to-Face Surveys
Our face-to-face fieldwork team regularly conduct interviews either in-street or door-to-door. Our interviewers are experienced in recruiting a wide range of people to ensure that we achieve the sample that you require.
Face-to-face surveys are sometimes the only option for certain types of surveys (e.g. to collect immediate opinions from visitors to leisure attractions).
We offer each of these face-to-face interviewing approaches:
In-street
, using a short questionnaire with a 'convenience' sample of people in public places (giving results that are indicative but not usually statistically sound).
Exit Interviews
- People are interviewed on leaving a venue - a cost effective way of reaching visitors to find out about their views and experiences.
In-home
- Longer and more complex face-to-face surveys are best conducted in respondents' own homes. This is also the best option for conducting face-to-face surveys in a local area, for example on a particular estate, or where high quality sampling is important. This approach normally yields a statistically valid sample, but is relatively expensive.
Hall Tests
, in which people are recruited in the street and taken to a nearby location to complete the interview, especially where props are needed (e.g. product testing, or a TV/ radio clip).
Current and recent face-to-face interviewing:
Business Link/ Train To Gain - skills audit of 300 Council staff
Northampton Borough Council - in-home interviews with 470 residents
Scott Wilson Group - 500 interviews on-street with 16-21 yr olds
